How is it that the most popular poet in the United States is a 13th century Persian mystic — inspiring people from all walks of life more than 800 years after he walked the earth? It is not Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Billy Collins, or Shakespeare. It’s Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi – more affectionately known as “Rumi.”

If you are not familiar with his poetry, what follows are some pearls for your contemplation. If you are familiar with his poetry, it is highly likely that you will discover something new and wonderful from the excerpts below.

Ultimately, it’s all about love – true love — the love that already exists deep within your heart. May you find it. And when you do, may you cherish it with each and every breath.
