Powerful Quotes on Mastery
What does it take to become really great at something?
Mastery is a fascinating phenomenon — one that many people talk about, but few attain. Is it possible? Yes, it is. But what is it really?
The dictionary defines mastery as “possession or display of great skill or technique.” OK. Good start. If you’re fluent in French, for example, you have a mastery of the language. If you win every game of chess you play, you show a mastery of the game. Skill is necessary in order to be a Master, but it not sufficient. Something else, beyond skill, is also needed.
Take a few minutes now to contemplate what some very insightful (and masterful) people have said about the phenomenon.
“One can have no smaller or greater mastery then mastery of oneself.” — Leonardo DaVinci
“It’s easy to get on the path of mastery. The real challenge lies in staying on it.” — George Leonard
“If people knew how hard I had to work to gain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all.” — Michelangelo
“Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person.” — Albert Einstein
