The Advantages & Disadvantages of Using AI Apps to Create Music

A thought starter for anyone navigating this territory

Yesterday, a poet/writer friend of mind sent me a song he produced using an AI app (“Suno”) — his lyrics and the AI app’s music-making capabilities.

I liked the song and became instantly intrigued with the exploring the possibilities for my own creative expression.

So I logged onto Suno, uploaded some of my poetry and lyrics and, voila, one minute later, a song appeared. Then I posted a few of them on Facebook.

The response? 85% super-inspired and appreciative and 15% cautionary and critical.

Rather than engage in the all-too-familiar steer wrestling that often accompanies any social media post, I decided to pause and research the pros of cons of this new AI world.
