I first heard this story from Prem Rawat, perhaps the best storyteller I have ever heard. And one of the reasons why I say that is because the stories he tells all deliver a powerful message.
Indeed, that is what real storytelling is all about, transmitting “tacit knowledge” – the hard-to-communicate wisdom of the ages.
Stories, at their best, are containers of wisdom. When told well at the right time they have the potential to convey the deepest of universal truths. And sometimes, when the conditions are right and the listener is really ready, a story well-told has the power to ignite and awaken the place inside a human being that already understands.
