One more deeply enchanting Rumi poem
Last year, as I understand it, Rumi was the best selling poet in the United States — more than 800 years after he was alive. How extraordinary is that!
Somehow, this Sufi sage left behind a legacy of poems that still speak and sing to humanity. Somehow, he tapped into the essence of life and what it means for a human being to long for the Divine in a way that transcends religion, philosophy, time, or culture.
Today’s spoken word poem is the beginning of a series of Rumi readings I will be posting here in the months to come — some from the Echoes of a Vacillating Heart and some from Coleman Barks, Rumi’s premier translator.
